A Weekend in the Trenches

A weekend full of gigs, rain, Swiss National Day and very little sleep.

We, Chun Hao, Niceyboy and I, kicked things off on Friday in Lausanne with the Continuum crew. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans. What was supposed to be a proper summer evening quickly turned into a fight against the rain. Eventually, we had to pull the plug to save the technical equipment from going under.

It was a shame, but the Continuum people were incredibly welcoming throughout the whole thing. We’re grateful they gave us the platform and the opportunity to be part of it, even if the weather decided otherwise.

Meanwhile, Merz had his own little mission going on. He played a small DJ set at the driving range of one of Lausanne’s golf clubs, and managed to get out just in time before the flood arrived.

The next day was another one.

Niceyboy started things off back home in Murten, playing a brunch set at a cool, trendy coffee spot organised by Cinnay, his longtime friend and collaborator. It was the kind of relaxed afternoon that could have easily turned into the whole day.

But for the three Amuse Bouche geezers, there was already another destination waiting.

Thun.

And more specifically: Mokka.

What happened there was one for the books.

We were supposed to play until 3:30 AM. Somehow, the crowd had other plans. People simply refused to leave, and what was meant to be a normal night stretched all the way to 4 AM.

Playing in a dark club, surrounded by a mature crowd that genuinely understood and loved house music, felt like one of those rare moments where everything just clicks. No rush, no distractions, just the music, the room and that strange feeling of being exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Mokka definitely made it into our top three nights so far.

Swiss National Day weekend: one cancelled set, one flooded golf course, two cities, three exhausted geezers, and one night we won’t forget anytime soon.
