Reflection On A Journey
Exactly one year ago we played our first show at the Montreux Jazz Cafe, not knowing where this whole odyssey would lead us. Today, one year later, this is Niceyboy here coming with a little reflection, whoever wants to read it, reads it. Voila.
This week felt special. For some, it was back to school; for others, the beginning of their very last semester before stepping into the unknown. And somehow, that energy of transition was everywhere. We could feel the world shifting with new regulations, limitations, fewer people at venues, more security. It makes creating spaces where people can come together even harder. Putting more eyes and more controls where people already struggle with feeling watched doesn’t always add up.
And then there’s the music itself. Sometimes we ask if it always needs to be a weapon, a famous song, the big lyrics everyone knows to make people move. Can’t rhythm, new melodies, unfamiliar tracks also open people’s ears and feelings? We believe they can. And we’re still on this journey, but the deeper we go, the more we question where to go next and how.
Yet despite everything, this week also gave us precious moments. We met beautiful, creative souls, men and women who are trying to tell their story and express themselves. And in a dark world like the one we’re facing, creating has become even more important. A photo, a video, a song, a painting, whatever form it takes, it matters. It builds spaces where people can breathe, feel safe, or escape in a healthy way.
It feels like we’re standing at an interesting milestone right now, and we’re more than curious to see where this journey continues.
