Returning to Montreux Jazz Festival
Returning to the Montreux Jazz Festival for its 60th edition was a true privilege. After our first appearance the previous year, we were invited back, this time to perform at the Pool, a unique venue located next to the iconic Montreux Casino. Being part of such a renowned festival is always an honor, and we wanted to make the most of the opportunity by bringing something new to the experience.
Together with our artistic director, Adrien Sabbah, we developed a custom stage visual that gave the performance a stronger identity and reflected the aesthetic universe of Amuse Bouche. We also invited our former lecturer from Uni to join us behind the decks as a small gesture of appreciation after the end of our studies. Another highlight was welcoming our friend and artist Cinnay, who joined Niceyboy for a short live performance, blending vocals with our electronic productions and adding a fresh dimension to the afternoon.
The setting itself was unusual. Rather than a traditional dance floor, the audience gathered around the pool, creating a more relaxed atmosphere where people could enjoy the music in their own way. Despite the challenging layout, we were happy to see people connecting with the performance and gradually embracing the energy of the day.
Like many live events, the day also came with a few challenges. Technical issues, particularly with the sound system and vinyl setup, reminded us how important careful preparation and communication are, especially when working with analog equipment in demanding environments. Even so, we adapted, stayed focused, and made the most of the occasion.
Perhaps the most valuable lesson came away from the stage. Collaborating with friends can be incredibly rewarding, but it also requires the same level of clarity and professionalism as any other project. Clear expectations, good communication, and defined responsibilities don't weaken a friendship, they protect it. It is a lesson we will carry into future collaborations, allowing both the relationships and the creative work to flourish.
